Guided tour of Roscommon Castle & Roscommon town with local historian Gerry Shannon 18th April
In 1982, ICOMOS established 18 April as International Day for Monuments and Sites. UNESCO approved it the following year during its 22nd General Conference. Since then, 18 April has been a day to celebrate and promote cultural heritage, and an opportunity to raise awareness about its diversity, its relevance, how vulnerable it can be and what the needs and benefits of its conservation are.
To mark the day, County Roscommon Historical & Archaeological Society in Association with Roscommon Tourist Office & Roscommon County Council are delighted to host an event in Roscommon town: Guided tour of Roscommon Castle & Roscommon town with local historian Gerry Shannon.
Meet at the Tourist Office/Museum, The Square, Roscommon on Thursday 18th April 2019 @ 11am.
Expected tour duration is 1 to 2 hours, the first site on the itinerary is Roscommon castle.
Free Event. All welcome. Kids must be supervised by an adult.
